Job Description

Job Summary:
The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service while supporting daily front office operations. This role is responsible for scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, managing patient records, and ensuring an efficient patient experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients, visitors, and healthcare providers in a professional manner.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
  • Maintain and update patient records in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Register new patients and ensure completion of required documentation.
  • Handle referrals, medical records requests, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year of medical receptionist, medical office, or healthcare administrative experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and patient scheduling.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.
